Proposals for Monuments

Proposals for Monuments is a collection of drawings, etchings, paintings, and sculpture that catalogue my response to myriad problems and phenomena I struggle to understand daily. Proposing monuments to the most asinine of humanity's actions plainly affirms their absurdity. The idea also relates to the timeworn tradition of the all - powerful decorating and gilding their dysfunctions, to further blind the eyes of their commonwealth. These "proposals" have been sourced from sketchbook entries I have made in the fall of 2014. This work illustrates trivial annoyances to momentous injustices, and is contextualized by my lasting fascination with the Berthold Brecht's masterfully pointed description of the character in his poem God of War. Much of the work in this series was generated specifically for exhibition in four international shows in 2015/2016: solo exhibitions in Berlin, Germany; Philadelphia and Bitola, Macedonia, and a group exhibition in Brussels.
During the course of the exhibitions of this body of work, I invited other artists to collaborate: painter, Dimitar Hristov, musician and composer, Vasko Dukovski, and stone mason, Silyan Trajkofski.
